Twas the night before the election…
Today was a ridiculously crazy day and I barely had time to think about the looming election tomorrow. I was busy moving into a new desk, getting organized for the week and meeting my new boss. I didn't really even think about the election until the afternoon when I heard about Obama's grandmother's passing. I was so sad to hear that she didn't get to see her grandson become the president of the United States.
But now, as I watch Saturday Night Live (and a million political ads), I'm thinking about tomorrow. I'm thinking about my daughter sleeping in the next room. About how her father and I have such big dreams for her. About how this election could change all our lives.
I have been feeling like our family is… Continue reading
Tito the Builder… Blacks against Obama… uhm seriously?
I really think these two videos speak for themselves so I'm not sure I need to give much of an introduction. My main question is... how much are they paying these people?
Tito the Builder
Hey McCain... yoo hoo Palin... just have one thing to say: Let my people go!! Really... these people don't give a flying rats arse about Tito and his fellow Mexicans. Now all of a sudden they're cheering him on? Poor guy... let's go have a real conversation with him. And didn't Palin just say the other day that she didn't want to be labeled? Well what in the hell is she doing to Tito, and the Joe's? I guess it's ok for her to label other people, just don't do it to her.Blacks against Obama
I just don't… Continue readingTOP 5 Reasons Obama Supporters Shouldn’t Rest Easy
1. The polls may be wrong. This is an unprecedented election. No one knows how racism may affect what voters tell pollsters—or what they do in the voting booth. And the polls are narrowing anyway. In the last few days, John McCain has gained ground in most national polls, as his campaign has gone even more negative.
2. Dirty tricks. Republicans are already illegally purging voters from the rolls in some states. They're whipping up hysteria over ACORN to justify more challenges to new voters. Misleading flyers about the voting process have started appearing in black neighborhoods. And of course, many counties still use unsecure voting machines.
3. October surprise. In politics, 15 days is a long time. The next McCain smear could dominate the news for a week. There could be… Continue reading
Amy Poehler does the Palin rap on SNL
Yes, I was one of the 17 million (yes million) viewers last night who wanted to see what Sarah Palin would do In Saturday Night Live. I figured ratings would be high no matter what, my measly view wouldn't count right? (That's what I used to think about voting!) At least one friend (who I won't mention here.. wink, wink) refused to watch it on TV because he (oops did I say he) didn't want to add to her ratings. Plus, usually within minutes after the show airs the videos are all over youtube, so why watch it live?
Although I found the skits to be very entertaining, and I do think Palin was a pretty good sport, I really don't think that Palin herself really did anything outstanding. Ok… Continue reading
