Twas the night before the election…

Today was a ridiculously crazy day and I barely had time to think about the looming election tomorrow. I was busy moving into a new desk, getting organized for the week and meeting my new boss. I didn’t really even think about the election until the afternoon when I heard about Obama’s grandmother’s passing. I was so sad to hear that she didn’t get to see her grandson become the president of the United States.

But now, as I watch Saturday Night Live (and a million political ads), I’m thinking about tomorrow. I’m thinking about my daughter sleeping in the next room. About how her father and I have such big dreams for her. About how this election could change all our lives.

I have been feeling like our family is one big statistic. With family members who have lost their jobs, are unable to get health insurance, and about to foreclose on their house, this isn’t the world we want our daughter to grow up in.

We want her to live in a world with affordable living, clean air, the opportunity to make her own decisions and marry whomever she wants. She deserves to have the best education and to have access to the greatest technologies. She shouldn’t have to live in fear of terrorists or wonder if she’ll be able to make ends meet next month. We want her to know that she has the power to be whomever she wants to be, even the president of the United States.

So tonight, before the drama of tomorrow begins, I’m just going to dream about my daughter and hope that the people of this fine country are ready for a real change. Vote Obama!

What’s going through your mind tonight?
